DURUS EASY FINISH

Designers, as well as contractors around the globe, appreciate the advantages of macro-synthetic fibres over steel mesh for concrete reinforcement. However, standard concrete mix designs applied in many EU countries so far limited their use in a number of applications. Mixes containing low portions of sand left builders with no alternative but to install steel mesh in industrial floors, residential floor slabs or precast walls. Durus EasyFinish is putting an end to this constraint. Designed to facilitate a perfect finish, this fibre is suitable for challenging concrete mixes in the most demanding applications.
To avoid synthetic fibres showing up on the surface a minimum sand content of 45% is required. At a time where cost efficiency is up high on the agenda for almost any construction project, concrete mixes with lower sand content are commonly seen. Delivering cost savings over mixes comprising bigger amounts of sand, such concrete, however, is hard to finish. Not so with the most recent Adfil macro synthetic fibre innovation applied. Durus EasyFinish lives up to its name. Added to the mix, this fibre makes for a smooth appearance of the surface as well as outstanding post-crack control. This opens up a whole new world of possibilities. Projects that use Durus EasyFinish for hassle-free finishing with a perfect surface as the result are no longer dependent on steel reinforcement. They can rely on macro-synthetic fibres such as high-performance Durus S500 and take advantage of logistic benefits and improved construction safety, as well as reduced construction time.
Advantages & Benefits
Durus EasyFinish revolutionises concrete reinforcement in concrete mixes with low sand content:

Barns, milk parlours, grain stores
-
Precast concrete
DURUS EASY SHOT

For its ease of usage and performance benefits, macro-synthetic fibre reinforced shotcrete (MSFRS) is enjoying increasing popularity over steel reinforcement amongst tunnel and mine design engineers. The Australian underground mining industry even has adopted this technology as a standard reinforcing method. This has meant the end of the use of steel fibres in this sector. Durus EasyShot is the answer to the growing demand for high-performance synthetic fibres specifically designed for tunnel and mine sprayed concrete.
Durus EasyShot has been tested in different parts of the world and in multiple concrete mix designs proving that this fibre is setting the benchmark for MSFRS: In plate tests according to the relevant norm, an average of more than 800 Joules was reached with no more than 4 kg of Durus EasyShot per m3 (steel fibres: 25-30 kg/m3). Class-leading energy absorption leaving alternative fibres behind.
As Durus EasyShot macro-synthetic fibres are flexible, their length is not limited by the opening size of the nozzle. This is a major advantage over steel. Rigid steel fibres have to be produced shorter or they block the nozzle during spraying.
Advantages & Benefits
-
Easy to handle and to apply
-
Reduced rebound during spraying
-
Improved construction site safety
-
Enhanced long-term properties of the finished concrete
-
Low cost per Joule energy absorption
-
100% rust-free, hence no crack width limitation for durability as with steel
-
Significant reduction in embodied CO2 when compared with steel
-
Less wear and tear on pumps and slick lines
General Applications
-
Tunnels
-
Mines
-
Slopes
DURUS CRACKSTOP F

Known under the brand name Crackstop F, polypropylene Adfil micro synthetic fibrillated fibres meet and exceed the requirements stated vis-à-vis high-performance concrete reinforcement solutions. Not only do they minimize the occurrence of plastic shrinkage cracking and plastic settlement. But they also enhance the surface properties, as well as extend the service life of the finished concrete structure.
Each Crackstop fibre type has been developed and manufactured to provide optimum performance for each individual construction need. The fibres are cut into different lengths with various thickness. Special coatings are added to the fibre within the production process to optimize dispersion and bond within the concrete. As do all Adfil fibres, our range of fibrillated fibres delivers a number of benefits over steel reinforcement. Examples include economic savings, environmental sustainability, logistical benefits, as well as improved health and safety conditions on site.
General Applications
-
Shotcrete/gunite repair materials

Advantages & Benefits
-
Improved resistance to abrasion
-
No wear of concrete equipment
-
Environmental benefits: Substantial CO2 savings
-
Excellent durability (high alkali, acid and salt resistance, no corrosion)
-
Improved safety on site
-
Minimizes need for manual handling
-
Increased speed of construction thanks to the ease of use
-
Minimized bleeding
-
Reduced plastic settlement
-
Enhanced impact resistance
DURUS FIBRIN XT

The DURUS micro synthetic concrete reinforcement portfolio includes a range of high-performance monofilament polypropylene fibres marketed under the brand name Fibrin XT. These serve as an alternative to crack control mesh. As such, the fibres enhance the surface properties and durability of cementitious products, significantly reducing the occurrence of plastic shrinkage and plastic settlement cracking.
Fibrin XT fibres are extremely fine, single filaments, cut to various lengths which are dependent on the type of application, maximum aggregate size considerations and surface appearance requirements. For optimum dispersion and bond within the concrete, the fibres are coated with a surfactant. Unlike steel reinforcement, Fibrin XT fibres are not readily seen on the hardened surface, but make for a perfect finish of the final product.
General Applications
-
Shotcrete/gunite repair materials

Advantages & Benefits
-
Increased abrasion properties.
-
Enhanced impact resistance.
-
Improved freeze/thaw resistance.
-
Substantial reduction of plastic shrinkage cracks.
